KARIKALAN AND THE TIME MACHINE—CHAPTER 113
“Go ahead and give us a categorical description of the so-called scene!” the king thundered again. But his eyes were as gentle as that of a mother’s.
“Yes, your excellency,” Sivanesar spoke at the hight of his voice out of tension. “On that first day I came to your court begging for thy patronage, you had had the elaborate kindness to send Veeravelar with me and my family to Lingaparai. Veeravelar too was very kind and considerate. He asked four of his men to buy the required provisions and groceries for a couple of months. He indeed had been kind enough to give us, my wife, my daughter and me on his chariot. He treated all of us very courteously. And he had us lifted up to the top of the Linga Hill with the help of his four men who had gone up the hill on foot. And then the provisions and groceries with rice in gunny bags were lifted up to the top of the Hill. When everything had been finished, I asked my wife to make a herbal tea to the guest and she did as bidden. It was when my wife came up to him to hand over the tumbler of tea laden on a tray that Veeravelar got to see the face of my wife close up…”
Sivanesan’s mind went to the spot on the Linga Hill where Veeravelar had sat a week ago when his wife brought the tea and re-lived the whole scene in minute details.
