KARIKALAN AND THE TIME MACHINE –CHAPTER 80
The Super Star thought for a while if it would be a good thing to suddenly change the topic. He took a gaze at Manikkam’s face once more. He wondered about the difference between him and the small boy, Manikkam they had just then left at his house: he was suddenly surprised at the lack of difference between them. That small boy, Manikkam, should put on some hight and weight and he would be this Manikkam. Manikkam was built on the slim side. But he had boyish looks about him, with his eyes full of wonder and sympathy for the suffering world. A great inventor of the Time Machine!
We could say some persons at the sight that they were great gentlemen. Manikkam was like that, a perfect gentleman. There are some people we can leave our babies with in a railway station. That was Manikkam. Completely reliable in an emergency; he would not put self in front of others’ goodness and welfare.
Ok! What would an ordinary wife look for in her husband? Manikkam had everything. He was on the slim side and good-looking Brahmin. He was fair and handsome too in his own way. He had the eyes of an inventor and the tapering fingers of an artist. He had a pair of very young and lively eyes. What did his wife expect more than that? He had a steady income. What else would a wife expect from such a nice-looking man? And the Super Star had an uneasy feeling. He thought with bitterness as to why he had allowed the matter to come to have such a pass.
